PrayerA Poem by DJuan ThomasWe all want, sometimes we get.
For the love of God
I lay prostrate and empty on your bed of lilies. He never came for me, but you did. In your embrace, the love of God became the love of you: less than full spirit, so much more than mere flesh. For the love of God I bit the fruit and waited for His reproach, but you came: baskets filled with more, tempting me, "My love, eat again." For the love of God, I overran my cup and let the water baptize my feet; but you wiped me clean with your hair, re-filled my cracked, cold chalice and let me drink from your lips. © 2012 DJuan ThomasReviews
