The Clover Patch

The Clover Patch

A Poem by Deeply Debbie
"

This is my favorite. It's about what most of us only dream of...ever-lasting love.

"

I lay amongst the clovers

And drink in the sweet perfume

of flowers in bloom.

Visions of chestnut hair

and eyes of golden honey fill my thoughts.

Skin - tanned by the sun.

Hands - calloused from manual labor.

Muscles - taught and strong.

It is a vision I have had many a time

whilst here in the soft meadow’s clover.

Here is where I met you.

Here is where we fell in love.

Here is where our children played.

Here is where we stay.

And though you no longer smell the flowers,

nor feel the warmth of the sun.

You can still feel the clover.

For you lie beneath it and I lie above.

Forever here beside you,

I will stay, My Love.

Debbie, that is so sweet and heartfelt. It actually reminds me of one of my most favorite memories as a young boy, laying in the tall grass on a spring day in a high mountain meadow. Simply beautiful.
