I didn'tA Poem by Daniel Scotty Roz
I recognized where I was, but I was lost regardless.
I had become prey to the fetuses that I, myself, had raised. Under my warm wings they grew until they could fly away. The flame in their glare with no words spoken had not burned me, but instead had left me stuck and frozen. Legs locked and helpless arms left flailing I stood there defenseless while they struck me and just kept whaling. The pain was severe, but I hadn't in me to fight back. I was left in the nest with an inch of my life, skin swollen and black. And for such a deed I've been called all things ranging from stupid to insane, but did I have it in me to end what I had created? © 2013 Daniel Scotty Roz |
