can a few simple words

wash away

the hate that I have laid?

can the truth

come close to saving

the foundation

of the old friendship

we used to share

that now

threatens

to crumble to pieces

and fall to the ocean floor?

could I turn back

the pages

and try again?

old friend,

please listen

to the words

that my heart 

is screaming.

my lips can poorly

illustrate

the scenes in my head.

I wish I could open my heart

and show them to you.

maybe then

you may begin

to understand

the way I have been feeling.
