The ghostly Ex!

"How are you feeling today Mel?" asked Roger handing her a bouquet.
"I am alright." said Melanie taking the bouquet and flashing over a weak smile.
"After the accident you have turned so thin." said Roger quietly trying to hide his tear-stricken face.
"Oh dear..Are you crying? The tough Roger who used to protect me from bullies is crying today? Oh lord! Save me.." said Melanie giggling.

"Please Mel this is not a joke-" Roger stopped.

Behind Melanie's hospital bed, there was a transparent window. It was closed,spotless and shining..But what shocked Roger was a pale whitish man he had seen in the window...His body,shirt,face,hair..everything was white.His face was cold; eyes,emotionless.Only half part of his body upto the waist were seen.

"Wha-What the hell is that?" asked a frightened Roger.
"What?" Melanie said looking back.
"I see no one there."
"But..the man..I have seen him somewhere..." said Roger his face now serious.
"I see no one Roger.Have you gone crazy seeing me in this condition?" asked Melanie now irritated.
"No Mel but.."
"Ok.Then tell me..about what happened today in your office.."
Roger talked a lot about what happened in his office today,about his adamant boss,gosippy friends,etc.. His eyes while talking still remained fixed on the pale man..While the ghostly man stared back with his cold, expressionless eyes..

"Mel..I guess I will stay with you tonight." Roger said glaring at the man.
"What about your office?"
"I can handle it." said Roger still looking at the man.
Melanie hugged Roger.But all the while Roger's eyes remained transfixed on the ghostly man.
"That man..now I remember.." said Roger breaking open Melanie's embrace.
"Resembles your old boyfriend! That sick man died in car accident for good..but even after dying he hasn't still left you Mel." said Roger with tears in his eyes.
"What has happened to you? I don't want to talk about my ex anymore..He has physically and emotionally abused me..Besides its already 12:00. I think we should be sleeping." said Melanie leaning over to take her medicines quietly wiping away her tears.
"Fine." said Roger, his face had by now turned pale too.

It was 3:00 now; Roger used to get up every now and then to ensure that Melanie had been calmly sleeping.After a while, the man in the window disappeared. Heaving a deep breath of relief, Roger went back to sleep.

Next morning...
"Roger? Till when will you sleep? Get up!" said Melanie desperately trying to wake Roger up..She had tried all methods, but Roger would just not wake up.His hands had turned cold and whitish.
At last she turned his face over and was shocked..
"ROGER!" Melanie shouted at the top of her voice..
Blood was oozing from his mouth. His eyes had been badly damaged and his face had turned whitish and pale just like the ghostly man..Melanie didn't feel his hand's pulse..
"No" Melanie cried..You can't leave me.." Her inconsolable voice shook the nurses and they rushed to quieten her.

What no one saw was that..behind Melanie,in the window was written in bold letters with Roger's blood..

"DON'T EVER STARE AT ME LIKE THAT AND GET CLOSE TO MELANIE OR I WILL PLUCK YOUR EYES OFF!"
