Sweetened and tuned

by silvered honey glint

of such tender eye,

by well-meaning scorn

and bitterest herb,

you gall

the unknowing--

the least desirous of us.

Hold fast to your deceit

and play that card again

in a blue smoke bar,

when humor deserts

and the line of truth

is drawn in the sand

by the angel who saves.

It won’t be today

my friend

no, not today.

"deceit" is one of those haunting and intriguing subjects that's always tough to handle ... but you do a more than fine job of it ... i loved the tone of your narration ... i loved the presence of "the angel who saves" ... also, "well-meaning scorn" and "bitterest herb" are superb expressions ...

This is a touch of sweet sad words sweet accompanied by gentle music, maybe flute or lyre .. yet has that significant up to date-ness of a visitor about to come but late .. thank goodness!
