Bitter Friend

Bitter Friend

A Poem by Audrey Howitt

A glass filled with the luxury

Of self-solace--

My best and most bittersweet friend

Your company betrays me

Into the tepid night.

You bruise my eyes

And I find that I am still alone.

SO SAD. SO BEAUTIFULLY SAID. AND SO TRUE. SOMETHING WE CAN ALL RELATE TO AT ONE POINT OF OUR LIFE.

Truth elegantly told.
A bit of the literate blues, sweetly sung
Righteous, Audrey!
