Love's Glance

Love's Glance

A Poem by Audrey Howitt
"

Poem about surprise

"

Long held, our love

A little like complicity gone awry--

On the edge

Between the knowingness of predictability

And a state of comfortable amusement.

Just when I think I have you nailed,

Predictability fails.

And in the blink of a universe fallen askew,

You give me a look--

A shadowed glance

Which surprises my heart.

And love is born anew

To take up a previously vacant corner of my heart.

I like the after taste of this one...
Soft and holdable...

An ember about to be snuffed out is rekindled to become a conflagration. I like how you take this simple metaphor and turn it into something that screams of greater passion. This is a beautiful work of art, Audrey.
