The Poet Views the Poem

The Poet Views the Poem

A Poem by Audrey Howitt
"

Where am I in my poem

"
Where do I end
and you begin?

Ephemeral ideas
born of ambient love,
the color of yellow roses
pinked by the sun.

I dare not separate
the you from the I
for fear of losing you.

And so we flow together
indistinct in form
vibrant in substance.

The gentlest reader,
The most pernicious reader
cannot prise us apart.

Deep perception and rich imagery artfully flow too soon to the end.
Great read!

love it! "indistinct in form/vibrant in substance"
should it be 'cannot pry us apart'? not challenging, just wondering

You cannot have one without the other. I love the imagery here. Brilliant.

A lovely couplet swirling an acquiescent
vibrancy so pleasing to the soul…

"yellow roses
pinked by the sun"

I grow variegated roses like this, so I found the imagery in this line to be most exquisite and worthy of the flower.

The poet and the poem, both a part of each other. Great poem my friend.
