On the Train to Hallstatt

On the Train to Hallstatt

A Poem by Audrey Howitt

rain, slick and dark,

lines the neuron pathways

of detached meaning

sheeting

electrical messages

disguised as love’s harbingers

of quickened heart

pulse apace

within the blink of an eye

the moistening of tongue

the flutter of lash

unspoken

you turn

and the light falls

unfettered

love’s joy

in the moment

Thank you!
I came by to refresh my mind... The title gave me a framework to envision and line with this series of thoughts. The echoes of the rails as a rhythm and background time your encapsulizations ...nicely. The reflections on and through windows adds still more to the tone.

there was so much intensity and keen observations painted into this short little poem about this poetic passage of a short, little moment! great work

Thank you so much for reading!!
I like this, and am intrigued by the name of your destination, as I know a place of this name here... a good write with strong, consistant imagery.

Thank you Leslie--perhaps the same place? Austria?
A witty reposte to the sceptic's notion that love is no more than neurons and hormones awakening while at the same time a celebration of the joy of the moment.

Thank you John--
Very well written, in all manners, Audry, first to start with the chemical truth, how love can react, second the visual, and physical facts, I really enjoyed it.
