Respect

Respect

A Poem by Nous

If I were to lift
a single limb in your direction
would you reach in yearning affection
Or simply grasp a separate wall
of your subconscious?

For to find another shelter
for your guilt and insecurities
would cloak your hate and your greed
would let you lose all your need
to deal with me.

When the soil sifts and decides
to nurture a body where malice resides
we will feel the roots of our developing inspiration
begin to quiver in the quake
of our perpetual mistakes
