One by one

One by one

A Poem by Gerhardus Retief

Buried deeper than a past hoping it doesn't last.
Scratching the surface of the watery secret.
Hoping you would not hear the strings on my nails.
I would pray for you before you make any decision.
Pull out the wings of a blurred rose one by one.

If we are not ready for the final run then do not try.
Just do not forsake this hope we both have.
Its as thick as our cracked skulls yet theres space to leak.
Try to write a song with no last line.
Let us pass the content faces slowly one by one.

Wishing, hoping and thinking its just you.
Wishing for no conflict just the joy that entangles us now.
Hoping that chance has painted our prison a key.
Thinking positively for once and looking forward to
meeting again.
Only the joyful tears come warm one by one.

Bitter thoughts became your every caring breath.
Met your deliverance of blade to the sorrow.
The sanitarium you created for all lost thoughts.
Made it compatible for my solid rock in my chest.
Ripped off the rocks off my heart one by one.
