White Light

White Light

A Poem by Ilana K
"

A poem about death.

"
I can see the white light
that they talk about
it's so close
And as I walk in its direction
I feel its warmth
soothing the dull ache
in my body

I walk towards it
to leave behind
the shouting
the screaming
the sharp pain that's flashing, pulsing
through my veins

I reach out
And it dances away
drawing me further from the physical world
Where I took my first breath of life
To the mysterious nothingness which lurks on the other side

I look down and see myself
Lying there
bloodied wounds that look so deep
my soul could enter back into my body
through the slices on my thigh

But with a wave
and a kiss goodbye
I take a leap of faith
and jump into the
light

Oooh, these last two stances are very nice! Your "soul could enter back through your body" is so original, what an image! This is a beautiful poem, Ilana! I look forward to reading the prose you also posted!
