Where Are You Now?

Where Are You Now?

A Poem by defenestrator
"

One of a couple dozen poems I set to music years ago.

"

Life's not so ordinary

to keep you from feeling.

I'm not so complicated now.

You shine as you fall to the ground.

Wishing that I could be

under you now.

Did it seem like,

I was too slow?

Anybody in their right mind would tell you so.

Did you notice

you were owed this,

and a lifetime of pain had left you all alone?

So you wake up

from the breakup

of everything that ever caused you to smile.

I'm not so f*****g sentimental now.

Did you ever stop to think I was doing my best,

and time doesn't humor me?

Where are you now?

Did it seem like

I was here or

did it seem like you were talking to mirrors?

Did you ever feel?
