Chapter Five

Chapter Five

A Chapter by Dillon McFarlane

Katherine and Steven had searched everywhere in alacrity and began to think that Flora had fled the house in search of help which was miles away. Katherine pulled Steven into a nearby closet after hearing something around a corner.

“Katherine, what is it?” Steven whispered inside the closet.

“It’s him! The killer! He’s coming!” Katherine was panting hard. Suddenly, Katherine pulled out of her hiding place.

“Dad, I’m here!” Katherine shouted to him and he turned around and met with her.

“Hello, darling,” he replied.

Steven’s head was spinning with confusion.

“What?” Steven asked, stepping out of the cupboard.

“This is ridiculous! What’s going on, Katherine?”

“Steven, I’m your sister,” she replied.

“W-w-what!” Steven screamed.  “No no no no!”

“It’s true, little brother, and do you know who this is?” Katherine pointed to the killer.

Steven shook his head.

“Steven. He’s your father...” she began to reply but Steven began to back up. He abruptly fell over and fainted.

“Hello, sleepy head!” Katherine’s voice matched a blurry face when Steven opened his eyes again.

“Am I dead?” Steven asked.

“Not yet, brother. Not yet,” she replied. Things around the room he was in began to become clearer. He was in the basement again and he was tied upside down.

“Cut me down, now!” Steven screamed.

“No!” Katherine was standing next to the killer who had his big, black clothes off and was staring, watching him.

“What is going on?” Steven asked.

“Well...you remember years ago...at Christmas. This guy tried to kill us, remember. Oh no of course not because you got drugged so you would forget.”

“What! Drugged?” Steven asked.

“Yep, Stevie, drugged. Mum didn’t want you knowing I was there, too and guess what. It wasn’t just your dad. It was me too!” Katherine revealed a knife from behind her back.

“Now we’re going to finish the job, little guy!”

A cackled emitted from Steven’s dad’s mouth. He couldn’t stand to look at his father after what he had brought upon him and his mum.

“My mum’s gonna be back soon and she’s going to catch you, whatever you do to me!” Steven screamed.

“No she won’t!” Katherine giggled. “Because I planted an engine blocker in the car. That car isn’t going to start for a long time! Didn’t you wonder how I was so soaked?”

“Evil cow!” Steven yelled.

Katherine brought her hand up to his face and slapped him. Steven tried to squirm free but his hands and feet were tightened strongly. Katherine started laughing again. She calmed down and began another speech.

“Oh, Steven. The reason dad and I have come back is because we wanted to finish what we started. Now if you...” Katherine was interrupted by her dad getting up and listening to a noise.

“Dad, go and find whoever it is. We need EVERYONE dead!” Her dad rushed up the stairs. He went out the door and took a sharp left. They were alone.

“I have no idea where Flora has gone but dad will probably get her and gut her something. Hope he makes it quick, though. I actually kinda liked her. Ok where were we?” Suddenly, there was a loud scream from behind Katherine and Flora emerged from the darkness with an extremely sharp knife raised in her hands. She rushed to Katherine and before she could react, the knife was plunged into Katherine’s neck. Blood was pouring out of the wound and Flora was screaming.

“Flora!” Steven screamed as the blood covered him. Katherine wailed and yanked out the knife as Katherine slumped dead to the floor. Flora used the knife to cut down Steven. He fell to the floor with a crash. Cutting Steven loose of the rope shackles, Flora took Steven by the arms and the blood-drenched people burst out of the door and rushed through the corridor, making their way to the front door when a dark figure emerged and grabbed Flora by the neck again.

“Not again!” Flora screamed and stabbed the killer. It all happened so fast and the killer didn’t recognise that she had a knife.

“Son!” Steven’s father reached for him. Steven began hyperventilating with anger and grabbed the knife off of Flora and pushed it into his father’s eye. He pulled it out and began furiously stabbing his father’s body until he was dead.

“YOU KILLED MY GUESTS!” Steven stopped when he realised he was covered in his father’s blood. He stood up and Flora took him to the door. Outside, the sun was coming up.

“Steven look at me,” said Flora and pulled him to her face.

“What happened last night was terrifying I know but we have to call the police, ok?” she asked him. Steven nodded.

They went back inside and took the phone, dialling 999.
