It ends tonight

It ends tonight

A Poem by dillonjensen
"

Old poem from highschool about my first real "relationship."

"
It ends tonight, this thing called love.
No more being sad, but rather flying free like a dove.

It ends tonight, this hate on reserve.
No more anger for the things I didn’t deserve.

It ends tonight, a broken heart no more.
I don’t want the fame, riches, or love galore.

It ends tonight, your words that are fake.
I can only accept so much until I break.

It ends tonight, the times we shared.
For many reasons, I shouldn’t of cared.

It ends tonight, the feelings I had.
This is my final goodbye, aren’t you glad?

And so it ends tonight for all the right reasons, this I guarantee.
You broke my heart and I don’t care for your plea.

So I say goodbye for I feel it is right.
Sorry, but it ends tonight.

I wrote this shortly after studying Edgar Allan Poe in high school. The Raven inspired this.

I can relate to all that you have written here. Sometimes you have to say goodbye with your lips even while your heart is still saying hello..x
