Life's TattoosA Poem by dillonjensenI watched a video on YouTube that inspired me to write this. I found the idea of a tattoo coming from your life's story to be a great writing prompt.
I was seven or eight when I first got stitches
Ten of them just before my right elbow Seven or eight-year old me thought it was a good idea To play Evel Knievel Whilst riding a bike down a ramp The piece of tin down below had a different story to tell that day When I was nine or ten I fell off my bike Landing on my right knee Which left a pretty bad cut and scar after that Around that same time A school-age friend of mine jumped on a piece of fence That was lying on the ground We happened to be playing hide and seek That very piece of fence was up against my leg And scraped it as he pressed his weight down Leaving in its wake a stream of blood And then again another scar To this day the scars are visible Some barely But still there ever so slightly Yet I remember the stories like they happened yesterday Where life tattooed me And the color of those tattoos are the stories behind the scars @dillonleejensen
