Dearest LauraA Poem by dillonjensenFor the daughter that never felt loved.
All she wanted was a father's love,
But it never came. Forced to grow up faster than most, Our heroine grew bitter and cold. She so craved a warmth that did not touch her. Daddy's little girl acted out with hatred and jealousy fueling her fire. Carrying the weight of that burden consumed her though, Until it was too much to do alone. A dying man living out his days on borrowed time hugged his daughter for the last time, And in an instant she felt that overbearing tenderness of love. She cried harder than most days, For she knows lightning doesn't strike the same place twice. © 2017 dillonjensen |
