Stray

Stray

A Poem by dillonjensen
"

Even strays get tired of running..

"
Another bottle,
Another glass.
Visions get lucid when viewing the past.

My face is numb,
But my heart aches.
I can't explain these mistakes.

In you I found all I needed.
Which is strange 'cause I pushed you away,
All the while you pleaded.

You see,
I was like a stray dog when you found me.
...Lost and alone.

What's interesting about stray dogs is that sometimes they bite the hand that feeds them.
Sound familiar?

I took advantage of your paper-thin heart,
And played with your emotions like a puppet master.
I am so sorry this ended in disaster.

You rode the rollercoaster of life by yourself,
Because I ran,
Because that's what strays do.
That longing for a home,
To not be alone.

I am very fond of this piece of writing and feel that I can relate in many situations. I particularly like the part that says "what's interesting about stray dogs is that sometimes they bite the hand that feeds them."
