Cheers For Being Young, For It Doesn't Last

An illuminating thought brought to my attention.

Let us hold hands just because.
At least then I could say that I did something right in my past.
I don't really know what the future holds in store for me, but then again who does?
I do know that a future with you is something I long for.
So on this cool, Summer evening as our silhouettes fade into the background,
what do you say?

I wrote this as an expression of a thought that keeps running through my head. I also feel like I'm not bounded by structure anymore.

Yes, such a good poem, very symbolic, to hold hands, as a sign, future and past, will be tangled forever...
It is such a great philosophical thought too, just only "with" the past, well accepted, a future, can be build just that beautiful. ^^ I would say silhouettes only could fade away, when the light that creates them moves to another direction, to a new future, a new beginning. Wonderful penning, I enjoyed this write of you. :)

A very deep and moving piece. Short, sweet, simple..yet conveys a powerful message. The stanza,"So on this cool, Summer evening as our silhouettes fade into the background,
what do you say?" is my favorite part. Good use of imagery. This poem vaguely reminds me of Japanese culture and their tendency to end poems with questions, like this one. Wonderful job.
