Starlet GoneA Story by dilettante1890A short piece about the fading of a star[let]"i want for myself too much to speak of my love." she said her eyes turning to rain in the darkness.
"i am a selfish and lost soul dear heart. do not look to me, nor depend on me for i am as inconstant as the moon and not nearly as pretty to look at." She mumbled before lighting a cigarette. Sucking down the smoke, inhaling clouds, "you are too pure for me with white picket fences in your eyes and an unspoiled dream in your heart. you want a sugar spun girl, and i'm sour like red wine. too much red wine to fill my heart. not enough fire in my veins to change. oh never. never. never shall i change." She concluded putting the cigarette out on her arm. There was a note when she left. She wrote it on coffee-stained pink notepaper. It read: you will be here long after i am gone as it should be. i never was. should anyone say different take them to the ocean and drown them. LOVE YOUR STARSHINE ♥ Her lover came home that day to ashes and paper and a girl no where to be found. He would search for her forever, the way Humbert pined eternal for his lost Lolita. He would search for her forever. How was he to know it was best never to find her? © 2008 dilettante1890Author's Note
