For a sweet friend Emily. She is always there.

Emily is always there

when I need a friend to care

Some say she talks with the birds

but I think 

she's just great with the words

yes

she is steeped 

in the battlefield

yet

sometimes

I just need 

to carry 

those words 

with me

as a shield

thank you for the lovely tribute, i used to think that i wasn't here to write poetry at all, but to be some little mother hen, tending all the troubled poet hearts . . .

but today, it just occurred to me, how much life has happened in this place, as dark as last year got, i want to have a tangible reminder the next time depression sneaks up on me, i want my family to know what i do here

Yes she is and so are you. I wrote three poems for tributes to poets who inspired me. You, Emily and Poetic Beauty. I entered them in a contest for that. I entered the first one one mine you posted:)
