Chocolate Liquor

Chocolate Liquor

A Poem by Dietrich von Crowe

An intense white, softened by beautiful brown,
Enamors me as I stare.
Until I reach the darkness, I dare not digress
My intimate glance. So rare

Is the opportunity to witness such wonders.
Even in the bleak
Darkness, I find treasures of diamond,
All utterly unique.

Often, I will find myself reaching out
To embrace the bright ember
Burning ardently before my eyes. The desire
Builds like cold in November.

When I near the flame, I fear
The ice will melt.
But the want for warmth weighs on me…
And I forget the pain felt.

I look again to see the luminous orbs,
Gleaming in glory and grace.
Amazing… to find such mysterious beauty
Resting on a human face.
