One Day

One Day

A Poem by DidIWriteThat
"

We were talking about getting old and I said "I will never get old, one day when I'm 90, I'll paddle out with a bunch of 20 year olds, they will come back and I wont."

"

One day

when my hair is gray

and my mind is strong

my face covered in the ocean's spray

One day I'll paddle out

to a wave taller than it looks

and a wind howling like a train

there will be a swell for the books

One day

I may be old

but I'll never die

forever that story will be told

One day I'll paddle out

and won't be coming back

Somehow it gets to be tomorrow, and that day might surely arrive. I’m not a poet, but this prose has impact.

I might want to do it earlier than 90...folks lived to be 92 (Mom) and 98 (Dad)---
and they could no longer take care of themselves or each other....I think I would opt for that swell.
