Tear Drops on the Grave

Tear Drops on the Grave

A Poem by Diana Owen Busy with Life BBS!

I never thought there would be
a time that you would be missing
from my side.

I always thought we would have the
time to carry out our plans.

If only I had told you all the things
I had to say.
then maybe I wouldn’t feel so guilty
for the last thing that we said.

My heart weeps in agony for the
emptiness that It feels.
nothing can stop those
strings from playing
as it sings it’s mournful song.

As I gaze at the tombstone
With a name that is imprinted on
My soul, and my tear
drops fall upon a grave
Where the part of me that
is whole is buried..

This was a very emotional piece. I remember those fears well when my fiance went in for surgery. You wrote this very well. Thank you for sharing.

This is a very mournful poem and I enjoyed reading but then after looking at your authors note questioned whether I should write this very comment. I believe the impact of your words came across with a lot of feeling and brought a lump to my throat at the end.

Loved the poem! That kind of pain is the very type I used in my book Dearest Detective as part of the main character's persona. It is a horrible thing to think of, but unfortunately it happens. Loved the pic too!

You've captured the grief and sorrow well in this short poem, Diana. A difficult subject to write about for sure, much less share. Thank you for doing so.

Death is a hard subject to deal with especially when it deals with our loved ones.......at 21 I lost my dearest friend I have ever had.....he was not my friend only he was my brother not by blood but by soul.......I have never found anyone that could ever replace him.......we had always been there for each other growing up.....15 years of friendship lost to his girlfriend taking his life.......it was ruled suicide but in my heart and everyone elses we knew what happened..........I was suppose to have been there that night but was caught at work late and decided to go home instead.......the next morning while at work his girlfrriend came in and was the one to tell me he had died.....I dropped to my knees right there.....no words came out of my mouth and my heart shattered.......they pulled me from his coffin at the funeral because I didn't want to let him go......I watched as they lowered him into the ground and flet part of my soul go into the ground with him........there is not a day still that I don't think of him......I wished my daughter and my wife could have meet the only one true friend in thes life I have had........lossing members of my family since his death haven't compared to the grief I felt that day......

I've never lost a family member, but I can still relate. You've got a way of conveying your emotions that makes everybody understand them too. I like how this poem is abstract, but you know from the very beginning what it's about...good job there! Did you actually lose your husband early, or are you just expressing a fear?
