If only I could be, your everything.

 

If only I could be, the one.

 

If only I could make you love me.

 

If only I could have seen,

 

What It was that I was doing to you.

 

If only that I knew,

 

that pushing you away,

 

would only break my heart,

 

If only I had said I love you,

 

before you walked away.

 

Then maybe,

 

I would have been your everything,

 

instead I am nothing,

 

and all I have is......

Happy New Year Diana! The pushing away is a deliberate act so regret plays a huge roll in 'If only' doesn't it?
This is great until the end phrase, I would have left it at 'all I have is nothing' the 'If only' is like an after thought, but it is just my view. I'm glad it is fiction, but sure many could identify...

I loved your tag line. ...were perfectly happy. It is funny how we need to clarify so our friends hear won't start panicking.

This was poetic beauty. It was...I am pondering on what to say to get it out right. Perfect comes to my mind. It had every element necessary for a great publish worthy poem, and well it should be. I know what you mean. People have a tendency to tell us how the wish that we feel better, etc.
I like to share my poetry and a lot of it is old, how i use to feel and how i think things are
it doesnt mean that im sucidal or that i have any hate in my heart.
Is just helped me let go of it all and return it to where it came from.
But people dont seem to undertand that im pass it all....

The pure thoughts that phrase is able to convey and provoke is something that we all faces at some point. I think you captured a feeling of deep regret and loneliness with your words here.
