A Ghost upon my Heart

A Ghost upon my Heart

A Poem by Diana Owen Busy with Life BBS!

You are standing there but you look right through me.

I speak but you do not answer.

My foot steps make no sound.

If I had a heart it would be breaking.

I long to touch you, but If i try my hand

would pass through you.

My nearness is just a chill in the night

I feel tears but they do not fall.

As the wind sweeps me away.

A ghost upon your memories.

a ghost upon my heart.

Lovely poem from the ghost's perspective. So sad but loving.

nice work and nice image selection to accompany the work. For the web, I might have opted to go with a ghostly gray font color or overlayed an image with the text... used transparency to put it all together for a cool effect. very nicely done on the write. heartfelt.

So sad, to be dead and away from her lover. I am sure that he would be going through torture of his own as well, wanting more than anything to join the girl.

Aww i like this poem. You should check out my poem "In Love With a Ghost" it's the same theme but different approach. :D

Just looking at this as some sort of unrequited love that haunts us is wonderful. I guess that's where my head is at lately anyway. Perhaps I'll do a companion piece about the loves that aren't unrequited, but haunt us and we feel the need to get an exorcist to get rid of them. I have a boatload of those. heh

Great job evoking so much feeling and sadness here, Diana. You really are a master at this sort of writing.

Writing it from the ghosts point of view was a wonderful idea and it made the last line very poignant. For me it said that no matter what the ghost felt, in reality, it was only remembered emotion.
