It wasn't Me

It wasn't Me

A Poem by Diana Owen Busy with Life BBS!

It wasn't me who made you cry.

It wasn't me who told you lies.

It wasn't me who brought you pain.

It wasn't me who left you stained.

It wasn't who who played those games.

It wasn't me who called you names

it wasn't me whose hits you took.

It wasn't me with the dirty looks.

But

It was me who felt your tears,

And it was me who heard your prayers

It was me who helped you heal,

And it was me who made you feel.

It was me who took the blame.

and it was me who always came.

It was me who you needed most.

And it will always be me to hold you close.

And thank the gods there are those who recognise the pain.
Bit close to home really but with the stats of those who suffer abuse in any form at 1 in 3
It will be close to home for many. I still wonder, when my eyes used to plead to be saved why no one knew. Looking back on old photos I can see a sort of death in childhood spark, to me its obvious. I look at children now and see a look in their innocent eyes and I just know there is something below the surface thats not at all to good. The trouble is trying to coax it out of their mouths, even when you know they have something to tell its so hard finding a way to have them talk about it. Then I wonder without the 1 in 3 who has overcome childhood and grown who would recognise those children with pleading eyes? Not every child will be black and blue telling their story of pain.
Sad write, but unfortunately true for many.

Lovely poem. It's so sad how much child abuse has occured through all of time from animal suffocating their young to us humans using children to play out sick twisted games or cruel emotions we tend not to express. It's so true to that often times even if they are hurt and abused by that parent(s) they still take the blame for it and try to help them... :(

A sad and sorrowful poem, yet also containing hope and a dream of happiness. Child abuse need to be regonized and stopped. If we all did our bit to stand up for those that cannot stand up for themselves, then the wolrd be a better place and there would not be so many who live from the pain they were caused for so long because no-one did or said anything to help them. Great poem! Child abuse is something that really needs to be stopped. It makes me so angry when I hear about another case of child abuse, especially when there are so many couples out there trying their hardest to have a child of their own. It doesn't make sense to me.

Oh Diana, I am covered in goose bumps. Great work writing about such a sensitive topic, I hope the more we write about it, the more there will be awareness about this cold reality so many innocent children are facing right over the world!
Amazing write

I come from a family that has more money than god .My stepfather broke uncountable bones and I wouldnt even be able to count the bruises if I tried. when I finally had the courage to ask for help I was told that I read to many stories that people of my class did not have these issues it wasnt until my first boyfriend saw my naked body years later that the truth was more than my reality. My mother was abusive as well I was drowned in toilets, bathtubs ,hit with all kind of objects. And subjected to tactics you can find in any torture manual. I survived but there are more of us out there hidden under the disguise of normality and glamour ..it is what it is for now .

Well written and deep piece on abuse that needs to be published............
if we raise awareness and hope for those in that situation maybe we
can save one child, and make a difference.

I was raised in violence. This is a wonderful work. We need to speak out in order to stop it. Bravo for your words. Well said. I thank you.
