Memoirs

When memories are gone,

Lost in translation,

I once again lost my fascination.

But an old wave of wistful

Crash the walls of my ruined heart,

And that’s where it always starts.

The regret, the remorse,

That eats you to the core.

The willing, the hope,

The never ending elope,

To a mended past,

To a brighter future,

You think you will last.

But there is a reason

Its all in the past.

Wake yourself

From deluded escapes,

Of dreams undreamt

Mirages that should fade.

The reality is clear.

The reality is now.

So mend the puzzles of the present

To build a future, finer than the past.

All of us tend to drift off into a world of our own sometimes, and as fun as those escapades can be sometimes, in the end they are nothing but a distraction. Your words capture the meaning beautifully and the first lines sort of draw you into the poem. Nice job! :)

Exactly, it is hard to let go of past mistakes, or previously made bad decisions, but the best thing to go is focus on the present, so there is no repetition of the past. Thank you for the lovely review Sky! :)
