Chapter 2- The dateA Chapter by KittyKatgirlAllison has already been asked out on her 2nd day by Isaac. She has a great time but will Liam win her heart as well.I woke up early the next morning to the sound of my alarm. Groaning still half asleep I turned it off and walked downstairs into the kitchen surprised to see that dad wasn’t sitting at the table drinking coffee like he does every morning. Then I saw the note on the fridge saying he went to see Claire and have a good day at school. I rolled my eyes scrunching the note up and tossed it in the bin. I had decided to forgive him about not letting me go to the party which reminded me I should let Hayley know. I found my phone noticing a text from an unknown number which I guessed must’ve been from Hayley. Like she promised it had the party details I quickly texted back sorry can’t make it my old man wants me to have dinner with his new girlfriend and added a sad face at the end. I made myself a bowl of cereal even though I wasn’t really hungry. When I finished I went upstairs and changed into a white t-shirt and my favourite denim jeans. I double checked I locked the door then walked down the street towards the school when I heard a familiar voice call my name. I spun around smiling softly when I saw Isaac jogging towards me. “Hey” he said a little breathless as he caught up. “Hey” I said noticing that he looked like he was still half asleep which made him look even cuter than usual. We walked together I could feel his closeness and smell his cologne. Every now and then his arm would brush against mine and it would send tingles up and down my body. We neared the school and I heard someone call Isaac’s name. I looked over and saw a pretty girl waving at him. I immediately grew jealous was she his girlfriend. Who care’s I told myself but the jealousy remained. Isaac waved back “I’ll see you in creative writing” he said flashing me a smile that made my knees feel like jelly and then he jogged over to the girl. I looked at my watch noticing the bell would go soon. I walked inside the building and managed to find my way to my locker. I had chemistry first so I grabbed my chemistry textbook and closed the locker jumping slightly when I see Liam who was leaning against the locker beside mine. “Good morning” he said with his usual arrogant grin on his face. “It was till you came” I said sarcastically pushing past him heading to my chemistry room. Unfortunately he was in my class so he followed me. I felt a hand on my shoulder and I spun around knocking his hand off angrily “hey what’s your problem?” he asked holding his hands up in defence. “Well let’s see yesterday you knocked me over and don’t even ask if I was okay or help me up” I said quickening my pace but it was useless he easily caught up. “Hey I’m sorry about that. I was in a hurry if I came late to school one more time the principal threatened to suspend me” he said. I looked at him and was surprised to see that he truly had an apologetic look on his face. I quickly looked away not wanting to believe he was decent. Didn’t Hayley warn me about him saying he’s a player and hits on anyone with b***s? We reached the classroom and to my displeasure he reached past me and opened the door. Without saying thank you I walked inside glad we were early because there were empty benches. I walked over to a bench near the back grateful when Liam didn’t follow me. Instead he stood next to a guy wearing a football jersey who was in my creative writing class. The teacher came in a few minutes later and made us copy down notes for the entire lesson warning us there’ll be a quiz on Friday. My next class was creative writing I was half glad that I’ll be seeing Isaac. I walked to the room and when I walked inside I noticed the room was practically empty. There were only a couple of students one was Isaac and the other was Heather. Isaac saw me and his face broke in a grin as he waved me over. I smiled back unsure why his grin had such an effect on me. I sat beside him watching the other kids hurry inside before the teacher got here. “Hey Allison can I ask you something?” he asked. “Sure” I said a little annoyed I hate it when someone asks can I ask you something I mean they were going to ask you anyway regardless if you said no. “Well since we share a lunch period I was wondering if you would like to go to the mall with me. There’s this new Chinese restaurant I’ve been wanting to” he said not meeting my eyes. “Yeah why not” I said with a shrug then remembered something. “Would your girlfriend mind?” I asked picturing the pretty girl who called him over this morning. “What. I don’t have a girlfriend what made you think that?” he asked completely surprised. “Oh I’m sorry. I thought the girl this morning was your girlfriend” I said blushing feeling like a complete idiot. Isaac chuckled “no way. That’s my cousin she’s only a freshman we are pretty close” he said. I felt relieved and happy. He was single. I mentally cursed myself so what if he’s single. That doesn’t mean he likes you he is only being friendly. It didn’t matter I couldn’t wait till 4th period. I sat impatiently in my next 2 classes looking at the clock waiting for it to reach quarter to 1 when my lunch period would begin. I jumped out of my chair when the bell went almost knocking it over. A few kids stared at me but I ignored them hurrying out of the room. As agreed I met Isaac in front of the drinking fountain near the cafeteria and he led me outside towards his car. I smile when he opened the passenger door for me. As I climbed inside I felt someone staring at me. I looked around and saw Liam standing near the bleachers staring at us. What’s his problem I wondered as I put on my seat belt. The mall was only a 5 minute drive away and I smile when Isaac led me inside walking close beside me. The Chinese restaurant was near the entrance. I ordered a couple of spring rolls and dim sims and fried rice. Isaac ordered the same and we found a booth near the back. I smile eating quickly staring at Isaac who sat across from me. He looked up noticing I was staring at him I blushed looking to the side eating my fried rice. His smile grew wider as he finished his meal way before I did. I quickly finished the rest then walked with him back to the car disappointed we had to go back. As he parked in the school parking lot he turned facing me “umm would you like to do this again sometime like hang out?” he asked. “Yeah sure” I said smiling when his shoulders sagged in relief. “Great how about tonight. A movie I’ve been wanting to see for ages is playing at the theatre tonight” he said. “Sounds good pick me up at 7” I said giving him my address then climbed out of the car and hurried to my next class ecstatic. The rest of the day went by quickly. I walked home noticing an unfamiliar car parked in the driveway. I opened the door and walked inside and heard voices coming from the lounge room. I walked in seeing a rather disturbing sight. My father was on the couch locked in a passionate kiss with a blonde woman his shirt half unbuttoned. I cleared my throat announcing my presence watching as they immediately pulled away. “Oh hi sweetie wow is it that late already” dad said looking at me obviously embarrassed. I didn’t look at him instead I kept my eyes on the woman who was clearly flustered. “You must be Allison your father has told me so much about you” she said standing up and walking over holding out her hand. I reluctantly shook it “and you must be Clair” I said. “Yeah. My father told me you were invited to a party on Saturday. I didn’t want to ruin your fun so me and your father decided to have dinner and get to know each other tomorrow night” she said. I nod glad that it wasn’t tonight. “Um dad I’m going out with a friend tonight he’ll be picking me up at 7” I said. “He” he said standing up as well looking at me protectively. I rolled my eyes “dad don’t worry he’s just a friend” I said even though I’d much rather be more then friends. He nod though he was clearly suspicious. “Well I better head home. It was nice meeting you finally Allison” Clair said giving me a soft hug which took me by surprise. Dad walked her to the door and I went upstairs to get ready for my date with Isaac. Wait was it a date I wondered or were we going just as friends? I searched through my closet trying to find something nice to wear. I settled on bright yellow trousers and a silky green blouse. I had a nice long shower before changing into the clothes I had laid out on my bed. I wasn’t a big fan of make-up and rarely wore it but I wanted to look my best tonight thus I put on some lipstick and mascara smiling at myself in the mirror. I knew I looked pretty with my long dark hair that was almost black, round oval face and big brown eyes. I heard the doorbell ring and I hurried downstairs wanting to beat dad to the door but I was too late. I saw dad step back letting him in and I smiled when I saw a bouquet of flowers in Isaac’s hands. He smiled when he saw me “wow you look great” he said. “Thanks” I said blushing. He didn’t look so bad himself he wore a flannel down shirt under a denim jacket and jeans and his hair was neatly combed. “This is for you” he said holding the flowers out. My smile grew wider as I thanked him taking it and smelt them before handing them to dad to put in a vase. “I expect her home by 11” dad said rather rudely as he walked off with the flowers. I rolled my eyes “sorry” I said walking outside. “It’s no problem” Isaac said grinning as he led me down to the bottom of his driveway where his car was. Being his usual gentleman self he opened the passenger door for me and I climbed inside. There was an awkward silence for the 10 minute drive I had no idea what to say. I hated myself for that I was usually like this when I’m around the opposite sex I run out of things to say. I was relieved when we reached the theatre and followed him inside. He led me to the ticket booth and I searched through my pockets for my wallet to pay for our tickets when he stopped me. “Don’t it’s my treat” he said. I hesitantly stopped watching as he paid for our tickets and bought us large popcorn to share and 2 large drinks. I walked close beside him towards the theatre wishing he would take my hand or put his arm around me but he did neither. We found our seats the previews already started. I placed the popcorn between us and sat down taking a sip of my drink. They had the air con on and it was really cold in the theatre. I shivered wishing I brought a sweater or something. I felt something drape over my shoulders and realised it was Isaac’s denim jacket. “Thanks” I said pulling it closer immediately feeling the warmth. He didn’t say anything instead his eyes were focused on the screen. I looked away wishing that I didn’t come I had actually thought he liked me but by the looks of it he was probably just being friendly to the new girl. I grabbed some popcorn and slowly munched on it feeling like crying. The movie started but I barely could focus on it. At the corner of my eye I saw Isaac reaching for some popcorn with his eyes still on the screen. I remembered something I seen in a movie when 2 teenagers were on a date and they reach for popcorn at the same time and their hands touch and instead of pulling away they held hands. On impulse I reached for some as well brushing my hand against his. I heard him gasp quietly in surprise and I immediately felt like an idiot. I was about to pull away when I felt his big warm hand grab mine and held it. I smiled if it was hard to focus on the movie before it was impossible now. All I could think about was his hand in mine. I was disappointed when the movie finished because that meant we had to go. But to my absolute delight he didn’t let go of my hand instead he helped me up and led me out of the theatre his hand still in mine. “Do you want to get some ice cream?” he asked motioning to an ice cream shop that was just down the block from the theatre. I eagerly nodded not wanting the night to end. Still holding my hand he led me inside and I ordered a frozen banana yoghurt and sat down in a booth with him waiting for our order. “That was a good movie” Isaac said probably trying to start a conversation. I nod trying to remember something that happened in the movie but my mind came up blank. There was another awkward silence then fortunately a waitress came with my frozen yoghurt and a sundae for Isaac. We ate quietly and when we were done we walked back to the car. It was another silent trip I turned on the radio wanting to hear some noise. Isaac parked in the driveway I noticed the lounge room light was on dad was probably up waiting. I looked over at Isaac noticing he had his hands on the steering wheel looking nervous. He couldn’t be thinking of kissing me goodnight could he I wondered. What if I kiss him? I then remembered something that happened in the movie hoping it might give him some courage. “You know what my favourite part of the movie was?” I asked. “What?” he asked turning to face me. “When they shared their first kiss” I said. He took the hint leaning forward. I met him halfway wrapping my arms around him feeling him brush his lips over mine It was a short kiss to my disappointment he pulled away. I wasn’t sure why till I heard the front door open and saw my dad staring at us. “Thanks for tonight” I said nervously climbing out of the car and walked to the porch hearing him drive away. “How did it go?” he asked. “Great” I said walking past him tired. I went upstairs to my bedroom without changing into a night gown I lay in bed even though I was tired I couldn’t fall asleep. All I could think about was Isaac and our kiss.
