She walks in like a thundercloud Purring rain The second she sits at the table, she's bluffing.
Dark clothes Jaded eyes Teeth sharpened to smile Well, welcome to the table.
You think that I'm a whelp of a woman That my puppy ears are still folded over and Can't hear your lies That I've never seen a cat like you before.
Flop. You hold your hand in delicate paws. Bet. Call. Raise. Check. The turn comes around, and I eye your expression. I may be colorblind but my friends and I see right through you. Pack mentality presides. Rivers flow my way, and I smile in spite of myself. Soon your chair will screech a goodbye. Show your cards, mongrel. All in.
Black hackles up, backtracking now You're clamming up! Face flushed in shame The pack has called your bluff. Bad move.
You think you're the queen up your own sleeve But your reign is over. I don't want to be another b***h playing poker.
Emily: OMG, it so great, I loved him....all the metaphors, wow, the visual was amazing. Great flow, rhyme content and title. Watch out, Emily's in town. You pulled me in and I found myself laughing mid-way. It is a cool, clever well throught out poem, polished and purrringly perfect. Bravo. Thank you so much. Dale
