Darkened ReveilleA Poem by EmilySecrets, coming of age, learning new things about the ones closest to you...
An urban legend to start:
Everyone has secrets. Not groundbreaking, But earthquaking. A blip on the Richter scale. Secrets draw into themselves, And take their hosts with them. A black hole almost impossible to satiate. It eats darkness and light, and you. Voices that choke on their words Give up and let go, For who would hear but the breeze? Others lie in wait, Biding time for reinvention, Boys in caves whittling their essence. It's a fine art they rule over, Hiding their work deep in the cavities of home. Truth's perfection takes time. The sun's harsh reality withers the weak. One might walk through years Peering through a blindfold, Honesty a given, omission a fleeting thought. Light tears your veil apart, The truth has finally appeared as A magic storm that spins you around, Unraveling the world. Sincerity in such a raw form is brand new. The boys return as beings of the sun, Fresh and clean of old hind'rances. A celebration is in order, for these children Were men all along, men in their caves Alone. Tremors of the dirt stop short in their shakes, The men walk the earth as wanderers, Clarity apparent. Secrets swirling surround them, As an aura of peace. © 2015 Emily |
