The Material Girl and Jesus ChristA Poem by Emily
I.The Madonna's glow is from her new I-phone.
II. Steve Jobs smiles at his work below. He is absolved of sin, like he was destined to be. His clothes were freshly laundered for his funeral. He hasn't bathed for weeks. Just like the homeless man down the street. III. Hark, the herald! Ringtones sing! Glory to the newborn King! IV. Thou shalt not steal, but be stolen from. What is stolen, however, is totally your choice. V. Frankincense, gold, and myrrh down the line, The precious King accepts with grace. He holds them close, as his body and blood and bones. These three kings are his first disciples, of millions to come, Thousands of years in the future. VI. The world is far more interconnected than we know. This world has years of networking in its files, Keys to all encryption codes. Nothing is safe. Prepare for persecution. VII. The Newest Edition of the Seven Sins: Poverty, Frugality, Skepticism. Ignorance it its subtlest form. Hatred of change, Wavering ethics, and most of all, Oily fingers. VIII. You brought The Wrath of God home. You bred the horses and fed them the Apple®s of the apocalypse. Now the servers will overload! IX. "Almost done," a Roman says tenderly, Nailing a hand to a cross. A hand that healed, Loved, Raised the dead. What would his palms read now? © 2015 EmilyAuthor's Note
