My Love, I Do Not Love You

My Love, I Do Not Love You

A Poem by Emily

"Let me tell you the shortest poem: Me."
Well that's an enigma in and of itself.
Because when I see you I see
Stories untold
Secrets unwritten
A soul halfway sold
Tongues that were bitten.

Deep underwater, down into the abyss
You sit, the treasure of a hundred ships
I long to find your richest secrets,
Built to be whispered into ears
With a breath I struggle to find.
Do you hide that oxygen within?
Sigh into me.

No! I will not drown for you!
That's the last thing I'd do for you!
Fill me with fire and let me burn
Shoot the blood out of me, I don't care!
Please, I fear the deluge more than you.

In tender moments hope flies free from my breast
To color my cheeks
Give me courage to glance your way,
Find you glancing at me!
A crystal moment in time,
Set in another pair's romance.

You like to look people in the eye,
Don't you?
Incisive stares that cut through all my locks
And let my insecurities out
There are times I see forgiveness in those eyes
I let them forge into me
Fresh blue sky-lit eyes
Inquisitive, imploring...God/////
Everything is lost
No one has ever looked at me that intensely
Without it being a joke

You consume me
You consume all my thoughts,
Devour all my attentions,
And when I finally break into crumbs on your plate
You push it aside for the next course.

No, I cannot deny the disquiet in my heart
No, I cannot ignore the fascination there
So blatant in my mind, I must be ready to start
To make me want again...you are without compare.

Emily, I'm at the 1st stanza and intrigued: I realized, I need to observe people more and try to express it. You are wonderful at it; lovin it. Oh my girl: you have gone and done it with this. You mentioned school before: You my dear are a born writer: I vividly see him and you; it is wonderful the way your mind works; truly. Everything is lost - No one has ever looked at me that intensely -Without it being a joke. You build layer upon layer so perfectly intriguing; I could never look away. I recall many moons ago, that look!
Especially after a heartache...another journey, but lessons from the path and renewed courage. Love it. Favorite in my library. You are so talented! You must know. Thank you. Dale
