Invoking the Gods

Invoking the Gods

A Poem by Emily

Bragi, carve your runes into my tongue
So I may speak like you
The incantations of myth passed down like wine,
Jumbles, and festers without clarity in speech
This is where Hel claims it.

I dance in the moonlight for you
I succumb to the beauty of Nut's sweeping frame
Surrounded by lands of void
I call you from the ancient sands,
Where at last your power returns.

Enchant into me your innumerable aspects
Of light and dark and good and evil
Of war, peace, and sweet refrain.

The heads of Brahma coalesce here,
Now.
Neith, my patron saint, is on the hunt for flesh.
She creates the world only in our images once again
Then kisses me into godhood.

Altars need to be rebuilt
Sacrifices made anew
Cults rejuvenated with hysterics
My Neith, it's all for you.

Of course, of course,
The world's other divinities are important too
Vast and in control
They came because of me,
The work we have to do.

I must change the hearts of men again
Force witchcraft into the light
Roll back my eyes to see the sorcery of the past
The deities depend on it.

Neith, Changing Woman,
Nurture me again
Together we'll rule
In the new age I've always dreamed of.

This is phenomenal! I loved it right from the beginning, led me down a beautiful path, on a journey I very much enjoyed. Well I cannot copy/paste; there's so much I love: In second stanza, beginning with I dance in the moonlite for you...continues on a mythical and mystical exploration...I must change the hearts of men again, Force witchcraft into the light....ending great too, In the new age I've always dreamed of. Wow, Thanks. Tag Poetry 101
