Love/Lust

Love/Lust

A Poem by Emily

Lazily I lie awake, contemplating love and lust
Only one is considered honorable, and
Victory is that prize for love
Emotions aren't a game

Creating more harm than gain, some say
Obsessive desire destroying relationships
No, I say, and here is why:
Quieting our most basic needs only harms yourself
Unleashing yourself to the world, with consent, is wonderful
Each bit of yourself enriching another
Romantically, or otherwise, lust is good
So let yourself be lustful

And now you must make a choice
Love, or
Life?
