Our Lord AboveA Poem by Emily
Would a good and just god
Let love live, in all its idiosyncrasies? Would an ideal god Give poets reason to wail? Yes Because if not for morality, then for life What would we be without our struggles and triumphs? A blob of nothingness A waste of space Yet the delicacy of disaster Is only known to the eyes of a Creator Whoever he is Power should be given to those who deserve it Then how is he in power over all? These questions must be asked Truths like these cannot be gray in our minds Time after time Over every era They are answered If in vain Because until we meet our ends No answer can be found Meditate, pray, entreat your god And hope With all your skill, hope That the Lord above Is not power-drunk. © 2014 EmilyAuthor's Note
