I Dream of Acceptance

I Dream of Acceptance

A Poem by Emily

I was born in the era of Resistance
A child of revolution
I demand change like the wind demands freedom
But I am rooted in love

The injustice I see will be conquered
Let my brothers, sisters, and others be free
From the chains of tyranny that bind us
Together we will climb
Higher than ever before

From the kindling of the fire
To the red decoration of the street
Still, after all this time
We are hunted, disgraced
Oppressed
For being who we are
For wanting who we want

Laws try to rule us
Men ride against us
Religions shun us

But alone we will rise
From the ashes of our past
To our future
As equals to you
Accepted.
Loved, even, as any other.

This movement will not stop
I will not stop
Until there is equality for all.

This is a song of triumph... a challenge to rise above the shackles of the world.. but not alone.. with the masses of those oppressed... trampled... left behind... a song to lift all to a place of peace... forever.
