DawnA Poem by Emily
Morning beckons,
And I rise with the Sun Its tangerine glow making everything gleam. Even huge skyscrapers soften their edges. The silence is unearthly. Tendrils of anticipation thread through it, As if the dawn itself is preparing for the day, And waiting for the first signs of life. Cheep! Cheep! Chirp Chirp! The birds sing each other awake From inside emerald trees Vroosh! Cars fly by, expelling unsavory fumes They smell of petrol A memento to remember them by. Every block is seen anew Every day I wake. Parks and blacktop, The contrast never ends As will my love of this city. © 2014 Emily |
