Frostbitten

Frostbitten

A Poem by Emily

Hot tears sear my eyes
Trailing an ashen path down my face
I am alone
And I don't know why

I am a bystander
I see all
And can do nothing about it

For every door I break down, a brick wall is put up
I pray for what others dread
Because it saves the one I want to protect

But I am out of line
And beaten back with a stony glare

The war ensues
Shouting, insults
All love feigned is gone
I question who has crossed the line now

So I retreat into my shell
Unable to act
Frozen

The cold of a guilty conscience sets in
I am alone
I am still
There I sit, eaten away
Frostbitten

My Dear Writing Friend,
As usual your poem has set my thoughts on fire as not only can I hear your poem but I can feel it as well. It hits my pneuma like a combination earthquake-thunderstorm. All I can say is Wow…!
