A Bad Time

A Bad Time

"

"Yo," his voice echoed out in the long hallway, as he turned to face me.

He was pale as ever, his hands dug in that stupid blue hoodie of his like always. This encounter was different though. He still seemed carefree but his eyes seemed different. They seemed to have a glow to them, something beyond their normal color. He tilted his head back and forth, trying to keep the mood light.

"So...did you really come all this way just for little ol' me?"

I stayed silent. He shrugged after a moment.

"Alright then...let me ask you something," he said, smiling a little more, "Do you think even the worst of people can change? That no one is beyond hope?"

I stepped forward, growing impatient. His smile turned into a smirk.

"I see...well then."

He paused before lowering his head a little, his gaze still locked on me.

"If you take one more step forward....you're going to have a REALLY...bad...time."

I tightened my grip on my knife and took another step of defiance. I wanted it to be over. Just like it had been with the others. He laughed wholeheartedly.

"Y'know, I'll never understood what my brother saw in you."

He pretended to scratch his nose, keeping his other hand buried in his coat pocket.

"And I guess I'll never know since you killed him."

He whipped his arm upward, grabbing me with telekinetic power and slamming me into the ceiling. It hurt like hell but I endured the pain. I knew his tactics. Knew that with enough time... I would get him too. No sooner had I impacted the ceiling before he slammed me with equal speed into the floor. The left wall. The right. The ceiling again. The floor. On that impact, I felt his power wear out briefly and summoned all my strength. Rushing to my feet, I charged at him and slashed. He dodged with an amazing speed I hadn't seen before, despite how perfect my timing had been. As I staggered past him, he let out a chuckle.

"You didn't think I would just stand here and take it, did you," he taunted.

The few second cooldown of his powers was over. Instead of telekinesis this time though, he was conjuring white demonic heads in the air. They shot enormous white lasers before disappearing as soon as they came. The angle was insane, leaving me barely enough room to dodge, but I was able to escape being vaporized by mere inches.

My turn.

I charged him again, timing my slash even more carefully. He dodged yet again, this time in the opposite direction. It was infuriating, especially with how he was acting like he didn't have a care in the world with his words but unleashing such brutal attacks. As I recovered for a followup strike his eyes seemed to glow even stronger and he once again began telekinetically slamming me all over the place. This time it was more intense, quicker, conveying his internal rage and pain over so many hits I lost count. It was beyond my capacity. As he slammed me into the floor, I was barely clinging to life.  I could tell by his huffing and puffing he was worn out too.

"You...won't...give up...will you," he said between breaths, "You're hellbent on getting me."

I staggered to my feet, unbalanced and nearly falling back over. Channeling all my hate and anger I charged him again. This time he dodged the direction he had the first time.

And I was ready.

As he smirked in early celebration, I spun as he passed and caught him with a second slash out of pure determination. He looked truly shocked as he stumbled back, a huge red gash in his chest. He put a hand up to it, looking at it as if it were alien.

"Wow..."

He slowly looked back up to me.

"Guess that's that then..."

He turned and began walking the hallway in the direction I had come from. A handful of steps passed and he collapsed to the ground. He was dead.

Everyone was now.
