The bird inside the broken glass house!!!

The bird inside the broken glass house!!!

A Story by Dhruv Yonzon
"

A small darkness can't overshadow a bright room but a small candle can light a dark room!!!

"

People come by, stare for a while and then walk by. That has been her story ever since she got trapped inside this cage. Among the many people who walk by, only few take pity for its condition but again they just walk away. Even as they take pity for her they could never understand her pain, her thirst for freedom.

She was born to fly, fly across the clouds and to travel places. She belonged in the sky but unfortunately no one seemed to get that. The bitter reality was that she was trapped inside this cage. The four big, huge glass walls are her worst curse that let her see the outside world but at the same time it’s the only thing that stands in her way of freedom. It makes her dream every single night of the beautiful world, her freedom but it also makes her weep to sleep every single night before she falls asleep. The glass through which she sees the world is her biggest enemy.

She sees a chance because the upper part of the cage is covered by net. She tried a lot to fly away but she always ended up in the ground of the cage helpless flapping her wings to get up and try once more. Many times she hurts her wings but she never lost her courage. Every morning she gets up and plans her escape though at the end of the day she finds herself rolling on the ground. Sometimes she just sits on the branch of the tree and stares at the sky. She feel so helpless because her freedom is just outside the cage, she stares at the sky and think of how much she wants her freedom, she finds her strength and then she flaps her little ragged wings as harder as she can and takes a deep leap towards the beautiful sky. She pushes herself with all the courage and tries to break the net. But as she opens her eyes she finds herself on the ground staring at the sky through the nets and the glasses. And as the new dawn comes she opens her eyes with the same determination and same will power to escape, to be free. Maybe even a little more as each day passes by.

So, every night the little bird dreams of the beautiful world outside the cage. She suffers from paranoia that maybe a stronger beast will break the net and eat her alive. Some nights it rains like the sky is crying for her. As if the sky is also missing the beautiful bird playing and singing in her arms.  The rain makes her heart cold and suddenly she feels lonely. She misses her company as she realizes she lonely and bound stay like that until a miracle happens.  Frighten and lonely she weeps herself to sleep.

The only consolations are the people who are walk by her cage, who stop by and watch her fly from one end to another. Their smile and their gaze inspire her. That smile makes her forget about her sufferings. She flaps her wings but elegantly dancing around the bushes. When she sees them smile at her tricks she feels satisfied even if for a moment. And everyday she lives her life in these small moments because she knows one day she’ll be soaring high along those beautiful clouds. And in that moment she feels free, not caged nor paranoid. And she lets her mind and heart ponder around this feeling when she feels low…

What a wonderful and finely written story, sad though it is. It really shows how a small creature can battle life and keep on and on trying. Somehow I feel that little bird IS going to fly and even higher than she thinks! The determination and resilience of the wee creatures is so admirable.

Plus. this could so easily apply to a human being facing setbacks, fighting hardships, not being beaten though so easily could. Some creatures won't allow themselves to survive, others are determined to fly and do. Beautiful, inspiring.

I find this idea very interesting, there is a melancholic beauty of this bird being inside the cage.

You said once that they take pity on her, you don’t need to say it again, instead, in the last sentence, just say, “They could never understand her pain, her thirst for freedom”. There are a few other points where you repeat things. Just go by and simplify next time around

This was a really nice metaphor, “The glass though which she sees the world is her biggest enemy” - I think that means the way we see things is what causes us our troubles. The entire writing in fact I feel is totally symbolic. The writing, grammar, wording, itself is not bad, but it needs a little bit of work (if English is you're second language then WOW). But the symbolism is very powerful throughout, especially because I think this situation of the bird in the cage describes a lot of peoples’ lives. We all want to be free of whatever “cages” or prisons, etc we are in, we feel like we are meant to be free but have much trouble finding this

A beautiful and sad story. The emotion portrayed in this story is very real. I think that this story is wonderfuly sad. I hope that the little bird got out and flew through the sky and felt the wind on her face!! You have a real talent. Have you tried writing poetry? I think that you would be good at it!

A beautiful and sad story. A cage bird can be heard. But no-one payed attention. I like the description and the hope of the bird to know freedom again. I believe a wild animal will died because of sadness when caged up. Thank you for sharing the excellent story.
