Into the Night

Into the Night

A Poem by Brown Bull

Into the Night

One time I saw the stars shine bright,
when I was left into the night.

And moonbeams I could surely sense,
as cooler air blew through the fence.

Was I left out here all day long,
because I had done something wrong?

Had the Farmer just forgotten me,
while somewhere else he had to be?

And soon the night was frightening,
while eerie things began to sing.

As I was scared and losing hope,
the Farmer showed up with a rope…

I’m sorry Bull, to me he said,
the battery in the truck went dead.

American cows seem to have that edge of fear.
Sorry, I didn't mean that as a slight to you.
I'll offer my psychological services to any cow.

Big fun!

i love this & especially the ending!!! the way the bull is worrying and wondering & the farmer
arriving with a simple explanation. reminds me of the tendency to build things up to a frightful
point, only to find there was nothing to fear.
