TetheredA Poem by Drew GivenTalking flowers or somethingThe two flowers grew together Below the ground, their roots were tethered They grew equally, side by side From each other they could never hide 'I wonder what's beyond here' said one flower to the other 'What's wrong with right here?' asked his brother 'It just feels small, it's just a thought' 'At least you're not a flower pot' The flower frowned and looked away His brother's mind he'd never sway His wants were simple, he hated change His present location was his range So the flower said no more of this But his brother was not amiss Though of change he wasn't fond More important was their bond When the flower wasn't looking His brother started uprooting When the flower noticed, he was in shock 'I thought you'd never leave that spot' His brother smiled as the wind took hold 'Well, today I'm feeling bold' Happily, they flew together To the ground no longer tethered © 2015 Drew Given |
