Just Stories

Just Stories

A Poem by DfWigley

I am not looking for answers

When I look at you

With wondrous eyes

Just stories.

Tell me again

Of when you were a child.

Remembering the love of your father

A country gentleman,

Who adored you so much.

With arms outstretched you ran to him

And in those arms you felt warm and safe.

And when you were afraid

Your small hands would tremble

Your mouth quiver with fear.

And your eyes would

Fill with tears.

`Roza, don’t cry`

He would whisper softly

There was such kindness

In his eyes, such

Love and understanding.

But now you are older

And he is far from you

Friends never visit

They are too old and too few

He lives without them

And without your eyes to comfort him

He needs your eyes

As I do

Tell me again

Of when you were a child.
