Abyss of Oblivion

For all the people who lost their lives in the Latur Earthquake on September 29, 1993.

That cursed night, the dark shadow of death came in shudders

Rocking and trampling the place where it stood

With its strong hands, it tore the place in shreds

It sent a tremor of fear with its cruel looks

With its legs it crushed and destroyed everything

It seemed that devastation has just been unleashed from its heavy chains

Innocent blood was split on earth

Lives were taken as if it was a game

Finally, it came to a halt

Amidst thick fog; there lay the corpses

Today its just a dreadful memory

Someday it will be lost in the abyss of oblivion

Only ruins will remain.
