Equilibrium

Equilibrium

A Poem by Davy Jones
"

When a swinging pendulum finds its equilibrium!

"
Its only when the pendulum swings
Back and forth, forth and back
Swinging until the very end
As much as physics would allow
Exploring the air in all directions
Cutting through it, embracing all;
Does it know what equilibrium is
Stationary, it doesn't know movement
No movement, and no life either.

For only when you have touched
Ends of horizons do you know
Where your station lies,
Only then do you realize
Where your peace of mind lies,
And only then, do you appreciate
Where your equilibrium lies!

Davy Jones
This is an image that has been on my mind since almost four years now. And in giving words to it, I find my equilibrium too.

this is really one of the more profound things i've read here at the cafe. i suppose there are some who can find their comfort zone without exploring the horizons, but they'll never know what they might be missing. finding one's balance in a wide wide world really should involve stretching the limits of our capabilities and imaginations.
