Like a ButterflyA Poem by Davy JonesA charming girl charms everyone, but who's as charming that can charm her?
I once knew a gal
A gal from the north A fine gal she was Born on may the fourth Everyone's gal she was With colors from violet to red A heart for any sport she had No fear at all, no dread Everyone's gal she was So many lovers had she Men and women all enchanted By her style, her loving spree And each one that loved her Took a bit of her home Her spirit, her words Even her beautiful ivory comb But none could trap her soul Like fine soft sand it ran Like a butterfly her life was Her song, catch me if you can. The boys were puzzled The girls amazed She was not what they thought But a fairy from the sky gazed, Your gal is no ordinary one The life of all life around here She belongs to each one of you And yet to no one at all! Trap her not, for she will die Only a boy with equal charm Like a butterfly flitting by Can catch her, and do no harm. © 2011 Davy JonesAuthor's Note
