MuralA Poem by Jessica Elaine Stevens [Faiteach]We painted a picture together.
we left a mark on a wall.
i re-play the day you stood two steps below me offered me your face and a dirty rag so that I may wipe away the marks i made on each cheek. They never let me wear red on my lips a paintbrush, painted gray, was the only kiss i'd ever lay on your precious face. you'd frustrate me- intentionally- and when i'd hit you, it was a respite from the silence of nerves that had not felt a human hand in 8 long, arduous weeks. six hours a day, our chemistry was a slow, caustic burn, against barricades erected by Rule and Regulation- and by the time our mural was completed you were completely familiar with me. i guess they shouldn't have left us alone together. and i remember the day, i tried to show you how small my hands were compared to your own and you intertwined thick fingers with mine held me by surprise and said good-bye. if we meet again, i'll remind you how to break the rules- i'll intertwine, thin fingers with thine hold you by surprise and make you say- hello. © 2010 Jessica Elaine Stevens [Faiteach]Reviews
