Re-re-remember

Re-re-remember

A Poem by Jessica Elaine Stevens [Faiteach]
"

Every echo, echoed.

"
we stepped out from the darkness of study hall
into a fiasco of sunlight
blinking desperately for control of our senses
skin burning, some believe they are bloodless
sacrificing daylight mortality
for knowledge and Nuclear Power
we are being Re-Programmed

and i re-thought of the things i missed most

they say we only remember once
every memory to follow is only an echo
a memory of a memory of a memory of a memory
every mind is a sooth-saying preacher of fiction
we re-write the recollection with each re-telling
until every moment of our lives has been re-lived
the way we think we ought to have lived it

and i re-think of the things i miss most

like your face, which is now a shadow,
stretched thinly over a mannequin
which, in all it's ideal attractive structure
is not equipped to be your face
and my fantasies, which once calmed my misery
have become pale
and harmless
(for it does me great harm to dwell on you)
thusly less distracted, i recede into the darkness
become a creature opposed to daylight
and succumb to Re-Structuring

This is the first time I've read something of yours... and I am impressed. The train of thought is impressive as well as the way you chose to word the poem. This is a great work of art
